We love helping readers connect over a great story. Because Foggy Puzzle Pieces is a shorter, fast-paced read, it's the perfect choice for a quick meeting, a busy month, or a lively evening chat.
Below, you'll find a curated list of discussion prompts to help your group dive deep into the themes, characters, and twists of the story.
1. If you could ask the author one question the moment you finished the book, what would it be?
2. Family dramas usually force characters to choose sides. Which character’s allegiance surprised you the most?
3. What do you think drove the family members to plan such a public disruption?
4. Did your empathy shift as the story progressed? Did you find yourself sympathizing with the conspirators at any point, or did you secretly hope they would pull it off to see the fallout?
5. Which character do you think carried the heaviest emotional burden?
6. What's a loose plot thread or unanswered question you think the author left open on purpose?
Feeling perplexed while trying to make sense of some family members’ irrational behavior, I decided to write a book about them, titled Foggy Puzzle Pieces, and immediately wrote the title on a sticky note and put it in my nightstand drawer. A year later, I began writing the book, using the “puzzle” metaphor in the title to reflect the fragmented nature of understanding the characters’ struggles, as well as the difficulty of piecing together their lives.
